We Made Digital Marketing In Canada A Sweet Deal

How We Made Digital Marketing In Canada a Sweet Deal

Hey there, fellow adventurer!

I am always up for an adventure. You bet digital marketing was no exception. It actually reminds me of the times I have been hiking up in the Canadian Rockies. Everyone would say how beautiful it was up there, but I had my doubts until I reached the peak. Similarly, diving into the world of digital marketing in Canada might seem daunting, but the view from the top? Oh, it’s worth it. That’s not to say, like the hike up to the summit, it’s not without its work.

Setting the Scene: Why Canada?

When I first started in the digital marketing world, I was much like a fish out of water. But just like the salmon finding its way back to the Canadian rivers, I found my groove in the buzzing world of online advertising. It sure didn’t start out that way for this Canadian living in Edmonton. Back then anything online was a much bleaker and now unrecognizable landscape.

I remember very well the time when websites were just becoming a thing. Most people didn’t realize they needed one. They had to be convinced to even invest in one. Now after much learning, experimenting and training, I not only build the websites, I am continuously updating them so they are found on page one of Google.

Not Just Cold Winds and Maple Syrup

From the neon-lit streets of Edmonton to the tranquil bays of Vancouver, Canada’s digital landscape is vast and varied. With its tech-savvy population and increasing internet penetration, Canada offers a fertile ground for digital marketers and of course digital marketing.

Your Potential Earnings: More Than Just Pennies

So, here’s the thing. We’ve all got bills to pay. I recall my early days in digital marketing, living in a tiny apartment in Edmonton, wondering if I’d ever be able to afford a spacious home with more than enough room for my growing family. But as the years rolled by, my skills sharpened, and my business connections solidified, I saw my bank balance climbing.

Digital marketing, my friend, can be lucrative in Canada if you play your cards right. I would like to emphasize how important networking with like minded people is if you want to grow and stay in business for more than five years. At least it was for us and for many of our clients. (Most businesses in Alberta have failed by year five.)

It’s More Than Just The Money

But, the cherry on top? The flexibility and pride in owning your own business. When I started, I had the chance to work from many locations like lakeside cabins, and even once from a boat. The digital marketing domain doesn’t force you to one location, although every location does need great internet access. Owning your own business has its perks of a balance between work and wanderlust. No one can deny the inspiration that comes from the world around us, whether that is our home and the family in it or epic mountain top views.

The Challenges: Or As I Call Them, Opportunities

Let’s get real for a second. Just like that time I tried to make homemade poutine and ended up with a gooey mess, digital marketing comes with its challenges. I have had more than my share of failed attempts.

The Ever-Evolving Landscape

One day you’re a pro at Google Advertising, and the next day there’s a new update or platform to master. Remember the MySpace days? No? Just me? (I guess I’m showing my age here.)  The fact that you have numerous types of clients isn’t just a great way to keep things interesting but it can be challenging. They each have different digital marketing needs based on their goals. What works for one, doesn’t always translate perfectly to another industry.

Continuous Learning: Your New Best Friend

One of my mentors once said, “In digital marketing, if you’re not learning, you’re lagging.” And boy, was he right. The key is to stay curious, stay updated, and never stop being a student. I guess that teacher’s degree paid off after all because once a teacher, always a student. At Inspired Method Marketing and Coaching we are constantly learning.

Age is Just a Number, Trust Me

Remember when I said I started out as a fish out of water? Well, I dove into digital marketing well into my late 20s. And let me tell you, it was the best plunge I ever took.

Your Past Experience? It’s Gold

Transitioning from a different career? That’s not a setback; it’s an asset. All those years in a different industry give you a unique perspective – a fresh set of eyes that many companies value. Remember back where I said I was a teacher in my previous career? Skills transfer!

Dive Right In

Be it online courses, webinars, or workshops – the resources are endless. All you need is the drive and a great internet connection. Trust me, the latter makes it a much faster learning curve.

So, Should You Take the Leap?

Imagine standing on the edge of a scenic Canadian cliff, the blue waters beckoning below. Would you take the plunge? I did. And I haven’t looked back since.

Digital marketing in Canada isn’t just about algorithms and ad spends. It’s about telling stories, connecting with audiences, and riding the wave of digital transformation. For us it’s about helping businesses tell their unique story so that they attract raving fans.
