I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, and my path to launching a digital agency began in the late 1990s, driven by a deep interest in sales and marketing. I earned my diploma with honours from a local business school, landed a role at a web development company right after my practicum, and never looked back.

After spending six years in Calgary honing my sales skills in pharmaceutical and medical equipment sales, my wife and I moved back home to Edmonton, and that’s where everything changed.

It was after this that my entrepreneurial spirit truly took flight. We took a leap of faith and bought a small business, and as life would have it, I found myself switching gears from sales and marketing to the electrician trade.

I spent over a decade as an electrician while juggling three home-based businesses and working shoulder to shoulder with other entrepreneurs in the service trades. Those years gave me a real-world understanding of what small business owners face every day; late nights, tight margins, and the constant challenge of balancing it all.

But that’s also where I saw a gap. Too many service-based businesses were struggling, not because they weren’t skilled, but because they didn’t have the systems, support, or strategy to grow. That realization brought me full circle, back to marketing but this time with boots-on-the-ground insight and a mission to help others avoid the mistakes I lived through.

Partnering with my wife professionally has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Together, we’ve built Inspired Method to give business owners more than advice. We give them clarity, tools that actually work, and the confidence to build something bigger than themselves.

Karen’s path to entrepreneurship was anything but conventional. After graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education, she launched her career as a teacher at prestigious private schools in Edmonton and Calgary. Driven by a passion for child development, she later transitioned from the classroom to establish a successful dayhome, which she operated for five years while raising her family.

Eager to expand her expertise, Karen pursued business and marketing courses through NAIT, discovering a natural talent for digital strategy and social media. As a natural collaborator who thrives on working with others, she successfully launched several home-based ventures before focusing her energy on helping fellow business owners increase their online presence. Today, Karen continuously refines her digital marketing skills to deliver timely, innovative, and impactful strategies for her clients.

Alana was born and raised in a small town just south of Edmonton. Gifted with creativity and a passion for the arts, she knew she wanted a creative career, which led her to graphic design. Graduating from NAIT with a Graphic Design Certificate, Alana was offered a job with her local newspaper, creating ads and laying out the design of several Alberta newspapers.

While she worked at the newspaper, she also tried her hand at freelance graphic design and eventually joined her friend and fellow graphic designer in business, founding Jester Communications. There, Alana designed logos, brand identities, and packaging for a wide variety of small businesses in Edmonton. Getting her certificate in marketing and joining the Graphic Designers Guild of Alberta, Alana founded another small business – Off The Rack Logos. An e-commerce website selling logo designs to companies ‘off the rack’, all while working for the newspaper.

After several years at the newspaper, Alana left to start working for a small run print shop. Starting off as a graphic designer, then a sales rep, and eventually an operations manager. Alana had the opportunity to buy the shop from the owner, but not before helping him launch a brand new Alberta radio station.

With print and design fueling her passion, Alana doubled sales at the print shop in just one year, then doubled sales twice more in the span of a decade. During this time, she enjoyed serving her community as Rotary president and Chamber of Commerce president. However, after more than a decade of business ownership, Alana and her then business partner decided to dissolve their partnership and go their separate ways. Years of business ownership and working with entrepreneurs fueled Alana’s passion for supporting small businesses, which brought her to Inspired Method.

Whether she is helping clients get the right logo or brand design, or coaching them to achieve their goals, Alana looks forward to helping entrepreneurs reach their business's full potential.

Pedro was born and raised in Santa Clara, Cuba. Pedro always loved computers and technology; his very first computer was an IBM ThinkPad with a 6GB hard drive! He loved everything about it and promised to try to make a career in computer science. When he was 12 years old, he moved to Canada with his parents and sister, and instantly fell in love with the more advanced computers and technology he now had access to. During middle school and high school, he mainly played video games with his friends and made some very basic HTML websites, while also playing football for his high school team.

Following through on his childhood promise, Pedro decided to attend NAIT’s Computer Engineering Technology program. This is where he first understood how a computer functions and how even a simple program, app, or website needs to be carefully thought out and skillfully created. By now, he has custom-built many PCs and created many useful programs.

Pedro joined the Inspired Method team in June of 2022 as a WordPress Developer and has really enjoyed the work ever since. He mentions that since he works closely with clients and a very proficient marketing team, he has learned how business marketing works and why it is so crucial for businesses, especially small ones.

While working at Inspired Method, Pedro has honed his skills in creating good-looking websites that clients and customers love, while also ensuring they are fully functional and optimized for SEO to help potential customers find the business. Since he has full control over the websites, he has also become very familiar with DNS records and server-side controls.

When not at work, Pedro still enjoys playing video games with his friends, staying active by going to the gym and spending quality time with his family and friends.
